This drabble is in response to the WL 'It's Not My Fault' Spring Challenge.

“It wasn’t my fault. I'd just forgotten it was in there. Good thing there wasn’t much more than a few drops.” Chandi fretfully wrung his hands as he gazed down at the man stretched out on the sofa.

“If you weren’t such a clean freak…” Eric lifted the damp cloth off his face just enough to glare at his Brat. “I’m really beginning to dread your days off, Chandi.”

“I said I was sorry, Eric. I didn’t make you ill on purpose.”

“I know. I’ll be okay.”

“From now on, there’ll be no more bleach in the toilets. I promise!”

About Our Characters

Eric is the youngest child of James and Mildred Patterson who live in Kelowna. His brother, Mark, is single and lives in Vancouver. His sister, Judith, has been married to Kyle Richardson and they have twin girls, Emily and Alice, who just turned two in November. They also live in Kelowna.

Eric became interested in the furniture restoration business after helping his sister strip down and refinish a dining room table and reupholster the chairs. Prior to that he had a variety of jobs, but none of them suited him. In the last two years his business has picked up to the extent that he was able to rent a large shop on the outskirts of Jade Heights, which he is thinking about buying.

Eric knew he was gay at the age of fourteen, and his family was accepting of the fact. They all are very close and visit on a regular basis. He has had one serious relationship, with Edward Beacon, but it ended amicably when both men realized they were heading in different directions.

Eric knows he is a top and loves the idea of caring for a partner who needs him. He is very tolerant but has a deeply ingrained sense of right and wrong. He also has a good sense of humour and is very affectionate. He will work hard to meet the needs of his partner.

Chandi Teagan Barrett is the only child born to middle-aged, average income parents who considered him their 'Little Miracle’ and had a tendency to over-protect him.

He was easy-going but introverted, making it through his school years with average grades while standing on the sidelines. He had few close friends as he did not take part in extra-curriculum activities, nor did he socialize well. He finally accepted he was gay at the age of fifteen and came out to his parents. They were understandably shocked but their love for him never waivered.

He lost his father as a result of a car accident when he was eighteen. His mother, who had been badly hurt in the same accident and required constant home care which Chandi provided, passed away three years later. To deal with his heartache, he left town for a couple of years to plan his future.

He obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in Justice Administration and took the necessary training to become a policeman. He is presently working as a constable in the village he grew up in.

He loves his work and tries hard to do his best. His job as a police officer has helped build his confidence. He has found a place for himself there and made friends with his fellow officers. He even socializes now and again, although he rarely visits the city to go clubbing and has never been to a gay bar.

Chandi is a people watcher. He loves to run as a form of escape. He enjoys being outdoors and when inside can lose track of time while playing computer games. He dreams of someday having a pet of his own, preferably a purebred Chow.

He was still living in his parents’ home when he meets his life-partner. He is rather sensitive and yearns for a bit of TLC. He has trouble expressing himself so needs a very observant Top. However, he does have a sassy sense of humour. He runs to relax and stay fit. He also suffers mild form of OCD. Although usually easy-going, he has developed a bit of a stubborn streak.

He has had one relationship that ended poorly.
